Basophilic normoblasts

Definition:
Basophilic normoblasts are the erythropoiesis maturation stage that follows pronormoblasts. They constitute about of nucleated bone marrow cells (myelogram).

Appearance:
Unlike pronormoblasts,  basophilic normoblasts are smaller (14-18 µm in diameter) and the chromatin of the nucleus is more coarse. Nucleoli only occur rarely. The perinuclear halo may still be visible. Normoblasts are frequently seen in groups.
