Poikilocytosis

Definition:
Poikilocytosis refer to the different abnormal erythrocyte shapes. Usually, poikilocytosis accompanies anisocytosis.

Occurrence:
Poikilocytosis occurs in severe anemias, especially if ineffective erythropoiesis is present.
