Please note!

In HemoSurf, you can choose which rule (rule of filament or rule of one third) should be used for the discrimination of neutrophils into bands and segmented cells. The standard in HemoSurf is the rule of filament. If you want that the rule of one third to be used you can specify this in the title bar of the repective modules.

A: Leukocytes that normally appear in the peripheral blood

Step 1: Examine and compare normal leukocytes
Look at the series of images of normal leukocytes. Compare the different leukocytes and try to learn their characteristics.

Step 2: Identify normal leukocytes
Name the leukocytes and immediately receive the correct term.

Step 3: Recognize normal leukocytes
Name the leukocytes and then find out whether you are right or wrong.

Step 4: Perform leukocyte differentials
Count 100 leukocytes. Once you have finished, you can then compare your results to the correct ones. Incorrectly identified cells can be repeated. A specialist's commentary reveals the diagnosis and provides additional information.

B: Toxic abnormalities of neutrophils

Step 1: Examine and compare toxic abnormalities of neutrophils and monocytes
Look at the series of images of toxic and normal neutrophils and monocytes. Compare them and try to learn the toxic features.

Step 2: Recognize toxic abnormalities of neutrophils and monocytes
Name the abnormalities of the neutrophils and receive immediate notification as to whether you are right or wrong.

Step 3: Perform a leukocyte differential with toxic neutrophils and monocytes
Count 100 leukocytes and determine whether toxic abnormalities are present. Once you are finished, you can then compare your findings with the correct ones. Incorrectly identified cells can be repeated. A specialist's commentary reveals the diagnosis and provides additional information.

Step 3: Recognize pathologic and normal leukocytes
Name the leukocytes and receive immediate notification as to whether you are right or wrong.

Step 4: Perform leukocyte differentials with pathologic leukocytes
