Band neutrophils are the penultimate stage of granulopoiesis. In this form, the neutrophils partially enter into the peripheral blood. They constitute about
of nucleated bone marrow cells (myelogram).
Appearance:
Band neutrophils in bone marrow cannot be distinguished morphologically from those in the peripheral blood. The indentation of the nucleus exceeds the median (compared to metamyelocytes), but a filament constriction (as seen in segmented neutrophils) does not yet exist.
